Khichdi the Tamil way!

This is a Khichdi made in my family for breakfast. We call it paruppu saadham at home. It has got a lovely flavour and i like it when it ishot. My grandma adds a tomato whereas i don’t.
Do try this out, it is a reaalll comfort food.

Saturday being all veg day, wanted something spicy and comforting. So asked amma to make sambar rice (bisi bhela bhath). Few of my dad’s relatives in Bangalore use whole garam masala whereas my mom doesn’t use it.

This dish is called bhajji curry because we use the same mixture that we use for making bhajjis except that in powder form. the outcome is really nice and crunchy and goes along with anything.

I have been wanting to do fried rice for quite sometime. The last time i tried, the rice turned out really mushy and tasted a bit like Veg. Pulav
So i started collecting information from various food blogs and came up with the fried rice below, which was a sure winner !!

Ingredients
Banana flower -  1 cleaned, stalk removed and chopped finely
Channa Dhal (kadalaparuppu) – 1 Cup
Green chillies – 4 or to taste
Ginger – 1/2 inch piece
Garlic -  4 cloves

Amma’s Ragi Adai

This delicious and damn healthy adai is my mother’s recipe. She make this in 2 varieties. The one below is the kaaram version and the other a sweet version ( will upload it a lil later)

This recipe courtesy is my colleague T who is from thirunelveli. She used to bring this for lunch and it was treated as a delicacy by us.
